Beautiful natural habitat to the east of Hemel Hempstead with 7 points of interest and 1 route
Bunkers Park was awarded a Green Flag in 2015. Over the past two decades, the area has developed into a mosaic of habitats, including new woodlands, wildflower meadows and a pond, benefiting local residents and wildlife alike. Crisscrossed with footpaths the park is filled with opportunities for walking.Â
The grasses and wildflowers in the park make a wonderful habitat for declining bird species such as the corn buntin, yellowhammer, song thrush and skylark. Bunkers Park is also developing into one of the County’s most important butterfly habitats with twenty five species recorded at last count.
Development of the site is as a result of the partnership between Dacorum Borough Council, Nash Mills Parish Council and the Friends of Bunkers Park (FoBP). Volunteers from FoBP spend hundreds of hours every year completing practical tasks under the guidance of officers, and truly engender the spirit of community ownership.
