3ha common land in South Mimms with 7 points of interest
Water Habitat
The Mimmshall Brook runs the length of the site on its way to Water End a few miles to the north. Here there is a group of fifteen swallow holes at the geological boundary between chalk and London clay, and the brook disappears underground. As it passes through Wash Lane Common, you may see a kingfisher or even a grass snake along the stream.
Wash Lane Common Nature Reserve is a unique spot, a wild and undisturbed space in which you can escape the bustle of the neighbouring motorway services.
Take the opportunity for a short walk on our 500m easy-access trail, to stretch your legs and enjoy the health benefits of regular physical activity. Or why not stop for a picnic at one of the benches and picnic tables along the stream?
Please help us keep this park clean by putting your litter and dog waste in the bins provided.
2 hour free parking is available at South Mimms Services
